This is nothing new. the 2 networks have been splitting the broadcast in the middle of the year for several years.

NBC? I don't think they've been involved for several years. They went Fox, TNT, ABC/ESPN the past few years.

NBC last did NASCAR in 2006. Back this year.

You are missing the point.

Brian France is making a statement against the Confederate flag and NASCAR having any official affiliation with it. NBC dropped Trump for not being politically correct and the original posters point was that NBC starts broadcasting NASCAR this weekend and there is a correlation.

My point is in addition to NBC, France doesn't want to piss off any of the sponsors.

It is only a matter of time before major companies start putting in their opinions on the confederate flag issue or some other perceived injustice. IMO it won't be long before some major company says that they will stop doing business in or with certain places. For example a company saying that they will stop doing business in South Carolina until the Confederate flag is removed.

Last week they were out west on a road course where they have to turn in both directions.

And up and down hills. I never realized Sonoma had about 150 feet in elevation differences.

It looks that way to you because you are ignorant when it comes to auto racing of any sort.

Nice try.... well, not really.

In all seriousness, I don't get the desire for someone to sit down and watch cars drive..

To each their own though..

AH HA, why did you start in on this by saying it should be put to death? This is "their own" to millions.

Honestly? Perhaps it's an acquired thing. I like auto racing of any kind. I started watching circle track racing back in the '60s when stock cars were highly modified street cars. If you don't understand the draw I suppose I could never explain. It is just another sports thing. I like football but have no interest in basketball or soccer. I like to play baseball but don't like to watch it. As you say, to each their own.

Gotcha, I must have misread it as I thought sponsors were leaving NASCAR because of Trumps comments. Its still stupid for sponsors to leave over the confederate flag though since 99% of NASCAR fans are for it.

I would much rather do, than watch...I just never really saw the need to watch the cars lap a track..

I will give it a shot.

I went to a race with a client a few years ago and that got me interested.

When 43 cars boasting 750 hp come off turn 4 and then all hit the gas at the same time when the flag drops, the roar is awesome.

After that, for me it was just watching and learning. Despite what so many people think, most of the tracks are really different. Talladega is 2.5 miles around with 33 degree banking. Bristol is only half a mile around.

At Talladega and many of the longer tracks, they never let off the gas. At Bristol and Martinsville brakes are a big deal.

Pocono is a tri-oval (only 3 turns) is relatively flat (12 degree banking maybe?). Darlington is known for cars running right up against the wall and brushing it frequently.

There are 2 road courses, Sonoma CA and Watkins Glen NY where they are not just turning left.

I'm not a car person, but the way they tune them, change the setups before and during the races, make adjustments and such is pretty fascinating.

The driving skill is also amazing. When a guy gets clipped at 180 mph and saves the car it is really fun to watch the slow motion replays watching what he does to save it.

Anyway, those are some of the reasons I like it.
I realize it's not for everybody, but there is a lot more to it than most people think.

Sure, there a lot of rednecks, but the NFL isn't exactly like a polo (as in ponies) crowd.

I have 3 post graduate degrees.

Anyway,

I think Trump is in this race to make Republicans look bad, and I don't believe for one moment that he's really surging in the polls.

Isn't NASCAR booming in popularity? I thought their ratings were healthy?

Track attendance is down from around 2008, and TV ratings have been in decline as well. They pull about 5 million viewers from what I remember.

Me too. I have raced cars, motorcycles and bicycles (I prefer things with motors more. I'd much rather be racing but one look at one of those cars will make you realize it costs to do that. I'll guarantee you this, if you are at the starting line at Talladega when the green flag waves you will never forget it.

The primary factor is NASCAR needs sponsors

So we could see a #3 Chevy Afro Sheen car and maybe a weave product could sponsor Brad Keselowski? He seems to weave a lot.

Because the network of Brian Williams is a pillar of integrity

Typical fricking liberals

They get rid of trump because it is freebie righteousness. They keep the liar because completely dumping him would cost them money.
