Growing up, I've lived in Norfolk, VA (3 different times), Pensacola, FL, Monterey, CA (dad went to post-grad school and flew Hueys in Vietnam). To finish it off, we lived in Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico for 4 years- amazing experience.

Completed Nuke Power school (50 weeks) but failed Reactor Plant Physics by 2 points, no rollbacks in my day so I was reassigned as a Radioman.

Marine vet here but spent 6 months on the USS Tarawa on a westpac
And while the Marines will always give the Navy shite I enjoyed the hell out my time spent at sea, was a fricking great time!
And yes I have my shellback certificate
Nothing says Navy like wearing your clothes inside out, crawling through garbage and sticking your face in a fats man belly for a cherry!!

What do y'all do while underway? Do you stand watches?

Boot camp - Great Lakes. It was 26 miles from my parents house, still took the Navy 2 days to get me there and I had a layover at O'hare some how.

Nuke school - Orlando, FL (1996-1997)
Prototype - Ballston Spa, NY (1998)
USS La Jolla - San Diego (for about 10 days), then Portsmouth NH for 2 years, then Pearl Harbor for the remainder of my time.

As a Marine on the USS Wasp I didn't do anything besides eat, sleep, and work out. It rightfully ticked off the sailors.

Other than that as a Marine I was stationed in:
Camp Pendleton, CA
New Orleans, LA
Camp Lejeune, NC

Orlando was the tits

But since I was in Nuke School, my daily life was essentially: Wake, Eat, Class, Eat, Class, Eat, Study til 11pm

The only time I would break away from studying was on Friday nights when we would go out with a group of chicks from UCF.

I was on suggested 12 hours per week because I'm not an idiot. Sign in for ~ an hour and a half each weekday and cram in 5 hours late Sunday.

We spent every weekend in Daytona during Power School because a guy's uncle in our class was GM of the HoJo. Free rooms.

My advisor bumped me up to S15 for a month and my scores went up into the 3.8 range.

Bumped me back down to S12 and my scores dropped back to 3.5s.

He asked me my why I didn't stay at 15 per week on my own since my scores were obviously up with the 3 extra hours..

My response:
