Honestly if I didn't have family in Baton Rouge I would have no idea what's going on or at least the magnitude of what's going on. Zero today from national news and in Houston it's not even being mentioned.

Just venting....

I heard it mentioned on ABC Morning. But it shouldn't really surprise anyone that national news isn't reporting on this 24/7 and that's not even including the fact that it's an election year.

I'm out in TX trying to organize donations and I would say 75% of folks have no idea anything happened. The other 25% think it was an isolated event by a river.

Honestly, Trump just said something. The media has to figure out how, as a collective, to turn what he said into a speech likened to Hitler and Ghengis Khan before they will have time for your puny misery.

I'm traveling around this week. I've seen a ton on Paul Manafort and a good bit on the Milwaukee police causing residents to protest. The only thing I saw about LA floods was more rain was expected after flooding this past weekend.

Eta: this is specific to local cable affiliates (NBC mostly).

I have been getting checked on by friends from all over the US. They are hearing about it from some place I would guess. And, no, I am not on FaceBook.

Every year towns flood and we see them on the National news. Then the next day it is something else and we all forget those town names and or the event itself.

When the story is local we all want the spotlight to be bigger and last longer.

Sucks but that is the way it is

I do feel for the folks that flooded.

As close as Houston is, I've mentioned today at work about family members may be coming up due to flooded out and people just have a clueless look.

I'm surprised Facebook didn't activate the "I'm Safe" check in that it does for other disasters. Would have been pretty useful this weekend with so many people not having cell service.
