I can't figure this one out for the life of me. I'm very mechanical and I can't figure out what would cause my Sierra to smell like propane. It's heavy sometimes, and nonexistent sometimes. Could it be the catalytic converter petering out?

Taste the meat, not the heat.

My guess is your catalytic converter going bad or fuel is bad. Change up where you get gas and see if the smell remains. Do you tow a lot??

It's probably the cats wearing out they usually last 75-100k miles

If your CEL isn't on you probably don't really need to change them eventually the cel will come on

They put the sulfur/rotten egg smell in it. Propane is odorless. You sure you just haven't been farting and not notice? I hear that happens a lot as you age.

I'd give the propane torch to Nancy Hicks Gribble.

You probably smell it more sitting at a red light if you leave it running and walk behind it and if it's the same odor then that is what it is it should smell more when you first start it up and should go a way or be less noticeable once the truck warms up

It's more noticeable when it's cold out because it takes longer for the exhaust to warm up
