My experience at the West End DUI checkpoint Friday night

I've seen this used as a checkpoint in the past. I was waved through previously but Friday night was different. About midnight, after waiting in traffic a long time, I was ordered out of my vehicle. He did the card-with-the-eye-test. Rude attitude. He looks at my license and orders me to drive off the shoulder to an area off the street. "What the hell for?" I asked. "Your license is expired and we need to write you up." he said.
My license is not expired and asked him to recheck it. "Oh yeah. Ok. Get outta here".
Idiot tax collector with a badge. 8 or nine cop cars out there, floodlights, 15 cops milling around, and putting me thru embarrassment without probable cause.
I'm not an "eff the police" guy but that was garbage Friday night.

Sounds like you let them trample your constitutional rights.

The nerve of him to make a mistake and then admit it and let you go about your way.....

Sometimes you're better off dead. There's gun in your hand and it's pointing at your head.

This thread reminded me. When will the annual "BR St.Patricks DUI" thread be posted?

Talk about naive.

It's best to be a real smart arse in these situations. Should have said looks like you're the one that needs to take a fricking eye test. Not me. Are you drunk, blind, or just stupid.

I was pulled over for speeding by a cop once. I'm walking back and he's yelling "Why were you going over a hundred mph?". I answer "My cruise control was set on 70, there's no way I was going 100mph".
He says " I looked at my speedometer and it said 105 mph".
I said "That's probably why you caught up to me so fast."
He says "Don't get smart with me. The next time I catch you speeding I'm running you in." and he walks off.
Oh well, I guess it's a good thing that low IQ people can find jobs.

The part of where he said that his license was expired.

It kinda sounds like the cop did make a mistake. Besides waiting in traffic, he was released immediately.

So he either lied or is a complete retard. Par for the course, I suppose.

So he misread your id? Who gives a shite.
I once got a letter in the mail saying my license was to be suspended for a DUI that I didn't get. After sorting it out, the Department of Public Safety had "read the letter wrong". fricking idiots.

You don't think a cop would pull that stunt and expect someone who was intoxicated not to notice. I could be looking at this from a very cynical POV. But I've seen cops do just about anything to collect from citizens during checkpoints.

Nah. That shite got impounded. I was in my girl's Prelude.
