When I was 10 i watched my dad go through a gut wrenching divorce from my mom.

When I was 12 he lost his best friend and hero in his father.

When I was 16 he lost his second wife after she passed away.

When I was 35 he lost his mom.

Today, he lost the woman who taught him to love again. The woman he trusted more than any other besides his own mother.

It hasn't even quite hit me yet how the loss of my stepmom impacts me, my wife or my daughter because watching my dad today has been the single hardest day of my adult life. I was never one he leaned on when he went through personal struggles before but I see know that it's my brother and I who need to step up more than ever before. I hate this for him and would do anything to take away his pain.

I came here to read some shite about LSU and escape reality for a minute and not even 100% sure why I'm posting but if you get a chance to talk to your parents tonight, tell them you love them. If you're lucky enough to see them, hug and kiss them no matter what.

So sorry to hear this ... Sounds like he's been (and all of you) through a lot already.

Be there for him. God bless and may her soul rest in peace

Man, that's a lot of rough shite, some of us are very blessed. I'm very sorry to hear that he's gone through so much, but he's lucky to have you and your brother and I'm sure you'll both be there for him.

I actually just got finished speaking to my parents 10 minutes ago and told them I love them and I'll see them tomorrow. I'm extremely lucky.

THat sucks man. My Dad who is 78 and lives with me and I take care of went through similar stuff as your Dad. Just be there for him, I am sure he already knows that. Just try to do the little things for him so he doesn't have to deal with the bullshite, so he can deal with without a bunch of other stuff interfering.

Sorry bro.

Life's full of heartaches.
If you think you have it all figured out and are on top of the world, just wait.

Talked to my mom & dad earlier. I call every Sunday at the least.

Step up. Think if you go fishing/golfing or whatever with him once a year, that's only 15-20 trips before there are no more.

Don't squander the time.

Sorry to hear this. It's a sad reality of getting older that we all must prepare for. Your dad will get through it, but it will take time.

Its amazing and really unfair how some people are dealt more heartache and pain than others. Some really good people just cant ever catch a break. They are constantly having to persevere. Im bitter about that sometimes because there are alot of piece lf shite people in this world that dont even possess the capacity to love someone or to think of anything but thereself. I cant imagine going through what your Dad is going through right now. That amount of loss in a lifetime has got to be incredibly debilitating. Im sorry for your current situation. You seem strong willed and know what you need to do to help him pull through. Sorry I dont have anything uplifting to say.
