My dad, WWII, Korea and Vietnam vet, played nine holes of golf on Monday and shot 44. The par fives got him because he can't hit very far but he was hitting very straight. I thought this was a solid score for someone his age.

The rest of the week has been really rough for him so I was glad he got out on Monday. It has been a sad week for us so I just wanted to post something good about my Dad.

That's awesome. He might have beat me the way I'm playing.

I played in a faculty league last season with a bunch of older guys. It was always a treat to play with them. Good stories and good people.

It's amazing how many elderly men hit holes in one. The paper doesn't list their age but when it says "Mr. Jones had a hole in one on the 139 yard Hole No. 11 using a driver." You can bet Mr. Jones was in his 80s.

Next time you see your Dad please pass on this old Vietnam vet's thanks for his service in the three wars.

Also, congratulate him on my behalf for the well done 44.

Shooting your age or better is a great golf achievement. See if he can play 18 and break 91.

That's awesome. I would be through the clouds if I shot a 44.

I suck FWIW.

That made me think of my last round with dad. He was 70. He shot about 90. He was still strong and loved the game but he suffered from emphysema from a lifetime of smoking. Even though we rode a cart he ran out of breath walking from the cart to the green and back. He died 4 years later.

He gave me his old persimmon Hogan's after the round. Years later I gave the set to my son. When I'm gone the set will go to my grandson who never got to meet my dad.

Very nice.

My grandma is 90 and still plays almost every week. She's shot her age three times I believe, twice in her 80's once at 79 I think.

That's awesome!

My dad shot a 66 a week before his 66th birthday. I told him to count it as shooting his age.
