It's a liquid you syringe into their mouth after a meal. It wreaks of garlic and they do not like it. For the 10 lb dog I have, she only needed 1.6 mil/twice a day. Check out the website. Like I said, I didn't use it long enough to speak for myself, but I read a lot of forums and testimonials that mentioned it. I figured it was worth a shot.
An option for Stage 1 HW is to continue HW preventative. The larvae in the blood will be killed fairly quickly and the adults will be sterilized, but won't die for about 2 years. If your dog is determined to be able to withstand the damage caused during those 2 years, that is an option for treatment. If it is determined that this is the catagory my dog falls under, I may wait a little while and try the product again to see for sure if it was the hookworms causing the bleeding.
If my dog is Stage 2 or greater, I think I will just go through with the conventional treatment. In that event, I would give the product I have to someone else wanting to give it a shot.
Here's some good info on the subject in general. The vet gave us this exact info when we went in Friday. Heartworm Facts
