There's a national convention?

I did it in HS. We went to two state conventions - junior yeaer it was in NOLA, senior year in Alec.

I can promise you we didn't win a damn thing. But most of the guys there were nerds, and they had a few girl that were decent looking. I guess it was like band camp for smart kids. The few good looking girls never really had anyone pay attention to them, so it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

And yes... the Asians from Ben Franklin and Baton Rouge dominated.

Are you recognizing students that worked the hardest, or the ones that received the best training?

This is my first year and the high school I teach at first year coming to the national convention. It's in buffalo and we have been here since Sunday. We went to Niagara Falls on Wednesday. It's been pretty fun. Next year is in Colorado Springs and the big excursion is going to Pikes Peak and some other place, then in 2019, it's in Las Vegas and the big excursion is going to the Grand Canyon.

As far as the state conventions, they are now always at the Crowne Plaza off College drive.

Bucholz High School

Was definitely in my region, not a lot of asians in gainesville. I've always presumed those kids were related to uf staff... i think i have a couple individual top 10 trophies and a couple team ones as well. Maybe top 10 are ribbons and top 3 are the trophies, it's been 20 years. Needless to say, I impress gas station clerks everywhere with my ability to do simple math quickly and accurately.

American Heritage Plantation and Bucholz High School are the two schools completely dominating.

Vestavia Hills is the third school racking up as well.

I was on the Vestavia math team about 15-20 years ago, good to see they're still doing well. We came in 2nd 1 year at Nationals and it was considered "under performing". I've never worked as hard as I did in high school, and back then at least most of the students on the math team weren't Asian.

Would you rather be a short dicked asian with a big brain or a bigger dick American with middle of the road math skills?

I think the larger wang is a bigger priority.

There's gonna be hell to pay when someone finally figures out the secret to how those Asians are cheating on math tests...

Yeah so Bucholtz is the UF ph.d kids. Is Vestavia hills the UAB doctors kids or something?

American Plantation is south Florida right? What's the catch there?

How is there not a team from like MIT's kids or Cal Berkeley's or other Cali kids that are up there?

Nothing wrong with having regional winners and then overall winners.

Vestavia is the UAB doctors kids, most def. It felt like everyone I went to school with there had a dad or mom or both who were either doctors, lawyers, accountants, or bankers.

So, they're suggesting participation trophies.

This happens ever year with regards to the state and regional science fairs in New Mexico. The high schools from the Sandia and Los Alamos areas absolutely dominate every other school in the state and the parents always bitch. "It's not fair! They have access to all the resources at the national labs!"

Yeah. They do. They also have parents that are nuclear physicists. You want your kids to do better? Get an advanced degree and marry someone else with one before you procreate.

This doesn't explain Titusville, astronaut, or cocoa beach h.s. performing at such a mediocre levels at these competitions... those would be the high schools closest to kennedy space center btw.
