Moving Truck Insurance

Has anyone bought insurance through the company they are renting a moving truck from? Debating if I need to spend an extra $150 for personal accident insurance (covers claims made by 3rd parties). Any real life experiences would appreciated.

Last year my brother rented a truck and got the insurance. They got tboned by a dipshit and it covered all of the damages to their stuff and covered all of their medical expenses and paid them. Fwiw

I suppose I have to take into consideration other drivers.

$150 for personal accident insurance. I already committed to the $160 for damage to the truck.

DAMN.
Check your UM and your personal car coverage.
You might be paying twice for the same thing.

I do not have private auto insurance ( through my company).

Unless something changed recently no auto insurance covers moving truck rental. No CC either.

You don't have a car with insurance?
If not, check your credit card. Might have some coverage. That's a lot of $$ for a day or two of insurance.
You have to weigh the risk of your stuff being stolen? T-boned? What's the risk other than being an uninsured driver?

Company vehicle and company insurance. Move is across several states, I figure it is better to be safe than sorry.

You are stuck. pay it if you think you need it.

Ask yourself if you can afford to NOT have the coverage in the event of something happening.

Credit cards and your car insurance will NOT cover a large moving truck. I already researched that at length a few months ago.
When we relocated my family from LA to AZ we paid around $350 for the insurance alone. That covered any damage to the truck and the contents and any damage caused to someone else's vehicle if getting in an accident. Considering what my family had already gone through....figured the smartest move was to suck it up and pay the insurance.
If you are moving across several states....get it. If you accidentally back into something with the truck and lightly dent it....that alone would cost you more than you would have paid for the insurance. People renting moving trucks easily lightly damage them all the time, esp if you have never driven one before.
ETA: saw you already have the insurance for damage. I would get the other insurance as well. We had wayyyy too many stupid drivers pass us up on the roads and then narrowly cut back in front of us with no warning....making us almost rear end them. I'm thankful my husband did all the driving in the moving truck. I would have likely caused a accident in that thing.

Get the max amount insurance you can. Then arrange for a random friend to get into a minor traffic accident with you while you are driving the moving truck. The friend will then sue the truck company and when they settle; y'all split the profits. Cha Ching! Payday!
Trust me, no one will figure it out; just don't use a girlfriend or boyfriend in case you split up. That can F things up quickly.
And yes; people have tried this.

AAA discount with Penske got me a one way 7 day rental with both coverages for $1,382 after taxes. Seems like prices have gone up since our last move but not a terrible price.

Take the insurance.
I have moved: Winnfield to Tampa; Tampa to Tulsa; Tulsa to New Orleans; NO to Memphis; Memphis to Tulsa; Tulsa to Gunnison, Co; Back to Tulsa; To Kansas City, KS; Back to Tulsa; To where I am now for almost 20 years.
Each move had some damage, only 3 were substantial. Talking with the guys/gals doing the packing and moving though heard enough horror stories (the laborers not the reps selling the company). One never knows about anything or anyone else out on the road. From wrecks, weather events, vandalism, you name it and it can happen.
Spend a couple hundred so you can sleep at night during the process of moving. You're gonna need that rest to move in.

I've gotten it every time. No other coverages are available to make up for it. I just consider it part of the cost to rent a truck.

3 years ago Enterprise off airline tried like hell to sell me insurance as they require it if your auto policy doesn't cover it.
He sat on phone with state farm for 10 min to get an answer that Saturday morning. My typical auto policy 50/100/50 covered at 16ft truck just fine for an in-town move.

IF they covered it, then you do not have a typical auto policy.
