Any recommendations for family friendly neighborhoods?

You should move to the OT first...

Stone Oak neighborhoods on Huebner and Wilderness Oak. Many are gated communities wth their own pools. Rogers Ranch if you can afford it.

Helotes is a nice area and only minutes outside of San Antonio off 1604 and I-10.

In before people say SA is a shite city.
If you want land, look out in Helotes.
If you want "high class/country club" look Alamo Heights. Castle Hills is a nice area as well.
If you want just a nice suburb area, Stone Oak is nice.
In all, just stay north of 410.

Helped my uncle relocate to S.A. He decided to move to New Braunsfel. 20 minute drive into town every morning. He loves the area and it is probably one of the cleanest little towns/suburbs I've been in. Went into a couple restaurants while there and the people couldn't have been any better. Beautiful homes probably upper middle to middle class for the most part. Give it a look.

Coworker of mine just took a transfer to San Antonio in February. Bought a new house in Timberwood Park area & his family loves it so far.

Enjoy Mexico, that's all SA is.

Don't settle for an OT 5...there are some 7-8 out here, but you'll be hard pressed to find them.

Stone Oak isn't too far from where you work. There's all kinds of new neighborhoods going up around Bulverde and 1604. One downside to some of the nicer neighborhoods around Stone Oak is you don't get much of a yard, but some of the TPC neighborhoods have pretty nice community clubhouses.

Add an hour+ to that to get into downtown San Antonio.

where to live in sa thread
SA has a wedge/pie slice of wealth extending somewhat north of downtown and slightly west of 281. I work in the stone oak area and my commute is less than five minutes, but that is very atypical for the area. If you want a big yard you're either in older neighborhoods to the south or east or far outside the loop.
If you want to be trendy and have the bread then 09 is the place for you.
