Moving from cubicle adjacent to a couple windows to office with no windows.

Same floor, just another part of the office. What can I do to liven it up? Potted plant? A fish in a bowl? Something that plays music? What can I add to make me not lose touch with the outside world? Thanks.

don't do this, unless you want to alienate those around you.
When I have the place to myself, sure I'll throw on a jam in the morning to mellow out. But it's really, really annoying listening to other people's music when trying to do work. Especially when their music sucks arse.

Fish in a bowl with a plant growing out that plays music

Are they letting you bring your swingline?

I did this about a year and a half ago. I prefer having the door, but the cubicle I had in our old office was pretty baller. It was in the corner and I had an awesome 7th floor view of the river. In the new office, though, I can get to the windows in about five steps out of my office, and we now face the capital lake, so it's not too bad. But I do miss the windows for sure.

The office door is going to stay closed. Besides the layout and the fact the door opens inward, I think it even has a strut on it to keep it closed. Also, it faces another wall so no one will even see in.
The only thing that will alienate me at this point is the fact that the room currently has a sofa in it that people go and lie down on for a quick nap. Not sure where they will be putting that

I saw this phrase coming, that's why is said, "same floor."

They may just keep moving you from place to place just make sure you don't let them take your red stapler.

Tell Chicken you deserve a corner office for managing the Hodor/Reader conflict the last few years.

Cricket Annoyatron, for those wonderful outside noises. Oh wait, you said your office.
