I purchased Star Wars tickets online Friday for a 2pm showing Saturday. I get to the theater at 1:30 to give us time to get popcorn and all that stuff. I walk into the show at 1:45 to sit down and there are no seats, not even the ones in the very front. I look around and there are at least 20-25 people standing with drinks and popcorn in hand.

How does this happen? Does the theater over book like hotels and bank on people not showing? Are there people coming out of other shows and ducking into this one when the previous showing ends? Why dont theaters check tickets at the door of the showing instead of at the front for big releases like these that are sold out?

Anyway 2 tickets $18 refunded
Popcorn, drink and candy $22
No movie

Love the theaters that let you pick your seat when you buy the ticket. Makes this a non issue.

That is why I will only go to a theater that has reserved seating.

Did the workers even try to determine who was legit and who wasn't? Seems like 3-4 employees could walk around and anybody without a stub should be removed so the actual ticket holders could sit

I went to the 10pm 3d showing last night and the front three rows were empty. Go to the Grand in Kenner, screw the palace.

I doubt it. I left after about 5 minutes. Im not gonna sit there and fight the poors over a movie.

You live to play another day.

You went in on an opening Friday to see Star Wars and expected to get seats 15 minutes before showtime?

Always secure your seat before sending a friend to procure food and beverages, r(w)ookie.

Yeah I underestimated the Black Friday mentality of this movies viewing audience.

You would think they would put someone at the door for an occasion like this.

If Lafayette had a theatre that did that, I'd go all the time. Unless it's a movie where I know there won't be anyone in the theatre. Then I wouldn't care
