Mother and child involved in murder-suicide at children's hospital

Doesn't say how child was killed, but mother basically killed her 5 year old son and then shot herself. The child was a patient in the hospital and the child's nurse walked into the room to find them both dead. Not sure how no one heard gunshots. Just absolutely horrible though.

I'm actually very familiar with where this took place......I used to work there.
You could easily hear loud noises in these rooms with the door closed or neighboring rooms could hear it as well.
The woman who did it was trying to raise money just recently for a used car, doubt she happened to have a silencer for whatever gun she managed to get her hands on. But I mean.....I guess anything is possible.
Never as a nurse could I imagine walking into a patient's room to that. If I was that nurse.....that would be it for me. I'd quit the next day and leave nursing for good.

Instead of providing better care for your patients so this type of thing would be prevented you would just quit?

I donr think the care at the hospital was the problem here
Batshit mom was the problem
Batshit mom was the problem

Maybe she used pillows to muffle the shots?

Jesus you people are hard on her sometimes. She's clearly a little emotional. Walking in on a scene like that would effect most anyone pretty drastically. There's no telling what you'd do but I'm guessing nurse would be back before long.

Exactly
The article mentions CPS was involved somehow. Maybe she thought they were gonna take her child from her.
And I would quit because that would be incredibly traumatizing to experience as the nurse that was just in that room less than 2 hours prior to it happening. You would forever feel like you could have somehow prevented it. Maybe I could still work as a nurse.....but not in that same setting and i would likely need some time off before getting another job.

This is per the mom I guess...

He has been traumatized by doctors where now he expresses extreme anxiety and downright terror when he smells rubbing alcohol and/or see someone in scrubs or lab coat.
Which I can see considering nurses are too worried about gossiping, complaining about hours, checking Facebook, joking with co-workers, and flirting with doctors to actually provide legitimate care to their patients. Seen this too many times.

So a mom KILLS her child and then herself.....and you want to blame it on the nurses???

The mother probably felt like she had no other choice to ease her child's suffering due to the negligent work and lack of care.

It's not clear how the child's mother got a gun into the hospital. Banner Health has a policy -- which is posted at entrances -- against carrying firearms and weapons into its facilities, Lozano said.
I can't believe that the policy and the posted signs did not prevent this.

Obviously, the sign was not big enough.

WTF is wrong with you?
A mother kills herself and her child and you blame the nurses?

her son. She only got a few dollars.
One donation of $5. Her son was a total care child with cerebral palsy. She must have just felt so overwhelmed that she just sunk deeper and deeper into a depression and just snapped.
