Mormon's Rang my doorbell at 11:00 pm!

Sound asleep and my wife wakes me up saying someone is ringing the doorbell (more than once).
I get the pistol and go to the door and look through the peep hole too see who it is. I crack the door open and ask why they were ringing my doorbell so late.
One of them responded, "Your porch light was on, so we figured you were awake."
I politely tell them I'm not interested and to please leave. But these guy's are persistent and keep insisting that I listen. I finally take the chain off the door and open it enough so they can see that I'm holding a gun. They immediately shut up and turn around and leave.
Do you guys think I was in the wrong?

I don't see how me grabbing a gun when someone is ringing my doorbell at 11pm when I have a wife and 2 kids makes me sissified. If it were someone I knew, they would have called first.
What would have happened if I opened the door and they pulled a gun on me?

I don't see an issue at all. You don't ring someone's doorbell at 11pm on a weeknight. I would have probably done the same.
I had Mormans do that shite to us a few years ago. Rang the doorbell at 10pm. I didn't grab my gun but they were met with a swift arse chewing and a quick gtfo.
