More blind blacklash from walk-outs and others decision to close this week

restaurants explain closures
BUT
BUT STILL
So then Reginelli's joins in on throwing the competition under the bus.
So a Walk on"s hits back with some facts
And time for some truth and honesty
BOOM
If you have ever eaten at Domenica you'd understand
And finally you know the mayor cant pass on an opportunity to capitalize on this.
quote:
When Walk-On's announced it would close from June 29 to July 6 due to repairs, it set off a social media firestorm.
quote:
"Call it what it is. Racist actions by a racist establishment. Point blank period. Closed for Fourth of July Weekend. Inexcusable."
quote:
"I find it quite odd that your restaurant would shut down during a peak weekend in the city. The only difference with this weekend and other big weekends is that the majority of the city visitors will be African American."
BUT
quote:
Others like Mike Demers defended the restaurant and said, "Would you want to eat there while they have sewage sitting under the floor. Pretty sure that's a violation. "
quote:
The restaurant posted a video showing the severe plumbing issue with raw sewage under the floors.
BUT STILL
quote:
"I think that's pretty suspect that all of a sudden during that time period they decide to do some renovations or repairs when we're in town trying to enjoy ourselves," said James Smiley of Houston.
quote:
"In the four years of coming to Essence, there have been some places have been closed. There are places that the service is very slow, and then other places have welcomed us. It just depends, but I know that I'd like to spend my money at places that like to see me there," said Charisse Shirley of Houston.
So then Reginelli's joins in on throwing the competition under the bus.
quote:
That would never be our philosophy. We're about sharing our brand, sharing our food and sharing our love of the food," said Reginelli's manager Donnie Davidson. "For Jazz Fest, for Mardi Gras, you never really know what to expect. It's the same with Essence.
So a Walk on"s hits back with some facts
quote:
A worker at Walk-on's let a WDSU camera in to show the extensive work being done and the evident smell of sewage. He said they've never closed for Essence before and added they will serve a limited menu and their sister businesses next door are still open.
And time for some truth and honesty
quote:
The owner of Little Gem's Saloon, Nick Bazan, said they closed because Essence Fest has been bad for their business, especially with nearby food vendors selling food at a fraction of the cost.
BOOM
quote:
As for Domenica at the Roosevelt Hotel, they closed Monday and a spokesperson said it came down to timing with contractors and just made good sense to renovate with this historically being a slower week for revenue.
If you have ever eaten at Domenica you'd understand
And finally you know the mayor cant pass on an opportunity to capitalize on this.
quote:
those that do not want to serve our visitors during Essence is absolutely outrageous and totally unacceptable

Anyone of the dumbfricks who has made racially charged comments about why Walk-On's is closed right now should be appologizing NOW! They want though because they are too stupid.

Here's my opinion, it's America, do what ever you want to do.

Why would anybody complain about not being able to eat at Walk-ons? That place sucks so hard.

All restaurants should be run by the government. The customers will always have an euphoric experience and the nongovernmental quasi owners and their employees will be rolling in money.

It's not that bad. You act like it's red lobster or olive garden or something.

When I want to form an opinion on something New Orleans related, I just see what this dolt has to say. Then I go the other way. He is wrong about everything else so why should this be any different?
Did he expect the staff and customers to squish through raw sewage?
And does this dickhead even speak English? Wouldn't it be "Those that want ARE absolutely outrageous?"
He are not a smart man.

I wonder if black people ever wonder why they are the biggest victims victims of racism on the planet....Do they ask themselves "Why is it so many people dislike us?"
Posted on 7/2/16 at 10:31 am to Placebeaux
Facts are irrelevant! It feels racist to me so it's racist! Period!
Posted on 7/2/16 at 10:31 am to Placebeaux
So they picked a slow weekend to make needed repairs?

Everyone is a victim now, not just black people. Just wait til Christmas. Every purported Christian will be howling on about a war on Christmas because the guy at the bank said happy holidays to him.

Yup. 4th of July weekend is historically the slowest time in the restaurant business. Not exclusive to Walk-ons.

Mother frickers just claim every fricking thing is racist. Get the frick over yourselves yawl arnt that fricking special! And truth be told, if you've Ever had the good four tune of being a waiter for a group of black folks you can expect to not get a tip over 2%. It's like they either they think it's like a MCDonalds and don't realize that waitress and waiters make about 3-4 dollars and hour and rely on tips or their just classless. I'm sure walkons closed for what their saying, but I bet the staff was so damn happy. And I know some of u will be hurt by what I say. But the truth hurts and can set you free. Next time your in a place where people wait on u hand and foot, tip them 20%(of course if they did their jobs well) and places may not close when you come to town.

I saw this on the news this morning. I love that walk ons has video of sewerage all over the floor, and yet they're still racist
