Monument Removal

Hey guys and gals,
I was wondering with the monument removal going on down here, would there be a way to repurpose some of the monuments? I mean it would be a huge waste to just scrap them and I doubt the money the City would get from the metal would really be that much. Wouldn't it make more sense to just repurpose either the whole monument or even parts of the monuments at local shops. This way the monuments are down but can still be viewed in some way.
For example, with Jefferson Davis' monument he has an outstretched arm...wouldn't it make more sense for Commander's Palace or Emeril's to get the arm and have it at the front door to be used as a coat rack or purse hanger?
Thoughts?

Most value is sold as is
Should be auctioned as required for public property

no
the statues aren't being destroyed...to my knowledge

I think the genitals should be preserved. Nothing like 100+ year old cement genitals to beautify the surroundings.

Repurpose? They aren't throwing them onto the trash heap. They're going to be shipped of to different museums.

this is easily one of the worst posts on the OT in some time

and they shouldn't be destroyed, they are a part of history...that's why I think repurposing them would be a great alternative!!

I was saying they should leave Beauregard's horse up there. That horse didn't do anything to deserve losing his monument. Why should Jackson's horse get all the glory?

Like at the state surplus auction? If so, I wanna go watch the bidding on these things.

Wouldn't they go into some sort of museum due to the history of the statues?

Yes in fact I have one. Post less, K!

If they are allowing the public to bid on the statues then Emeril's should definitely get one of them. Imagine the new recruits coming in to enjoy a meal and seeing Robert E Lee wearing a Drew Brees Jersey!!

Honestly, it should all be completely destroyed and erased from history. What a horrible history behind these disgusting "monuments".
