How is she allowed to stay on the board? Surely there's a state ethics board or something that investigates shite like this?

She's an elected official. Only way to get rid of them is impeach or recall. Her constituency is probably happy with her, so expect her to stay as long as she wants.

What was all the arguing on the board about? From context clues in the video it looks like there is some sort of desegregation case going on and the board reached out to consulting firms. It appeared that one firm (represented by predominantly blacks) was awarded the ?contract over the other two firms (represented by whites) that were bidding. Previous appointment of this same firm caused problems on the board once before. One can infer the vote was split along racial lines 4-3 since that was the makeup of the board.

Initially, the nomination and vote on this consulting firm were added to the agenda and brought for a vote when half the board was not told about it. (The white members were not told)...and when they objected to the vote bc they hadn't had a chance to vet this group or propose another, the pres overruled them. Big stink. Issues with this consulting group..possible ties to certain members. Then, after public outcry, they did allow nominations. There were like 4, including a group affiliated with the local university. But, after a circus, the same consulting group was elected. (Again, vote was along racial lines) was a complete bogus shite show and people were mad. There are some good folks on the board, but bc of Shelling and Co, they have been handcuffed as to doing much good for the schools around Monroe.

Thank god the rest of Ouachita Parish has its own school district. shite like this is one of the many reasons why the BR area needs St. George.
