The way LSU is handling this is kind of comical.

Whew ! I was worried there for a bit that the Sperry Topsider people might incur layoffs.

I get that the response was sort of a "safety stand down" that happens at construction job sites when a worker dies. Additionally, there are some optics involved as an institution needs to show that they are doing something.
What will solve this problem? I dunno. But if this poor young man's death wasn't because of tailgating or homecoming events, then my perception of LSU taking it away is more akin to punishment than trying to prevent another death.
Obviously, it happens around Rush. So there needs to be more monitoring/control over the pledging process IMHO.

Or just kick off those faggy new row, diverse fraternities like Phi Delt and keep the Greek system pure blue blood as it's meant to be.

frick if I know, I got out in 2010, but it shouldn't be hard to determine.
We should appoint a committee to study it though

It will be interacting to see what these "new procedures" for student organizations will be.

So I read this link and all the new stipulations and it got me thinking.
Why so many rules??? Some rules, yes. And better yet, shouldn't there be a moment of silence at the game to help promote the dangers of alcohol abuse and maybe all the Greeks hold a ceremony of reflection?
All this "registration" stuff makes me feel like LSU administration is more exploiting this unfortunate death to gain more power over student activities than safeguarding student lives.
We all know UF administration are real killjoys when it comes to alcohol use on-campus. I looked up to LSU fans/admin on how they are able to drink (a lot) responsibly. It really sounds like LSU is moving into a new era of stricter regulations just because they can.
