The bottom line- after $75,000 has been earned, people don’t have to worry about money. But that doesn’t mean they don’t.

The starving man is "happy" with a simple meal, because it holds value to him by meeting a need. Give the man the same simple meal over a period of time, and he is no longer starving, thus his "happiness quotient" (HQ) achieved by "simple meal" (x) is diminished over time and repetition.
