Why would god stop some bad things from happening and not others?

By the grace of God I found my car keys earlier after looking for 10 minutes.

Without His intervention I would never have found them underneath my LSU hat on the countertop.

There is no such thing as the God who kills with tornadoes.
Satan dies all the bad things to test us.

How many of you would say you've had crazy things happen in life that could only be explained by something otherworldly?

I have. But I will refrain from discussing it so not to upset tgrbaitin08's delicate feelings.

i used to think this way... then i realized that things happen all the time, so it's pretty much inevitable that something "miraculous" is going to happen at some point or other.

attributing it to god is like saying the earth is perfectly made for humans, it's the right distance from the sun, water, etc. etc. etc. no, it just so happens that there are effectively an infinite number of planet, so it would logically follow that lots and lots of them support life. our planet is far from perfect, just ask a hurricane, tornado, or tsunami victim.

Yep. I do think people have free will. I do also think, however, that there are obvious signs and dabblings of divine intervention in everyone's lives and they shift the courses of our lives in some way, shape, or form. It may not be obvious but I do think it's there.

if god is intervening at all then there is no free will. and what the hell is an "obvious" sign of divine intervention? i'll tell you, there's no such thing.

if you believe in the bible, the god in that book obviously intervened. now he somehow moves in "mysterious" ways, i.e. shite that happens by random chance that just so happens to benefit you.

Who are we to say what is logical or rational to a being that brought the very ideas into existence.

well, if you believe in the bible, you believe that god is a not very intelligent, spoiled petulant man child, not too dissimilar to our current president. in fact, almost exactly like him.

imagine donald trump with omnipotence, that's the god of the bible. so obviously, not a rational being.
