MIZZOU suffers backlash and falling admissions after protests

I wonder if this is what the protesters envisioned? Not only did they bring down the administration, they may permanently damage the university and athletics.

Mizzou’s vice chancellor for marketing and communications, Ellen De Graffenreid, received a disheartening email last fall at the pinnacle of the crisis on campus. A disgruntled parent wrote to the university’s Board of Curators, describing how her son, a sophomore, considered transferring out, while their two high-school-aged children “have all but eliminated Mizzou from their college list.”

New correspondence reviewed by Heat Street and National Review depicts the cataclysmic backlash against the University of Missouri as its administrators grappled with demands from rowdy protestors, a hunger-striking grad student, and a boycotting football team. The protests ultimately toppled both the president and the chancellor. In one instance, a retired professor wrote a prescient note to top university officials, cautioning that “serious backlash could result” and that “students making demands, protests, disrupting events or that kind of thing won’t sell well outstate.”

This passionate backlash doesn’t appear to have been a bluff. Already, freshman enrollment is down 25%, leaving a $32 million funding gap and forcing the closure of four dorms. The month after the protests, donations to the athletic department were a mere $191,000—down 72% over the same period a year earlier.

Would you there after that? I know I wouldn't.

I sure as hell wouldn't go there if I was applying to college

Especially if I was white. You fart the wrong way up there and you're getting expelled. Inmates running the asylum.

I wonder if they think their little fairy SGA president is a goddamn hero now
Perfect example of why you never give into these little fricks.

Pinkel knew when to get out. You can't compete with Bama and LSUwithout funding.

White folks that pay for their kids to go to school ain't got time for that shite..

They forced their chancellor to resign over claims that were proven to be 100% bullshite, and their associate professors are comfortable with physically harming student journalists. I wouldn't want to go there either.
Plus, have you read the kind of shite the Mizzou posters post here? What a bunch of fruit loops.

I'm a moderately liberal/progressive person, but I also believe in the First Amendment and that colleges should have diversity of thought among their instructors and professors.
I've been reading some books on 60's espionage, and there is a surprising amount of discussion about many universities where liberal professors had a lock on jobs - conservatives had no chance.

This should be an eye-opener to other Universities and dealing with these things.

It's exactly what those people wanted. They can surround themselves in bubble wrap and safe spaces now.
