MIT developing Ironman like suit for the military

quote:

Talos will provide its wearer with powers straight out of a Marvel comic - including night vision, enhanced strength for lifting heavy objects and armoured protection from bullets and combat injuries.

According to The Verge, the suit will be based on nanotechnology and embed an onboard computation chip, that can instantly respond to ambient conditions such as external temperature and adjust to the wearer's core body and skin temperature, besides monitoring the heart rate and hydration levels.

These nerds are the kind of nerds I like. Reminds me of the nerdy weapons guru in Charlie Wilson's War.

Total baloney. The changing properties (liquid to solid) of exoitc metals under an electrical current have been around for ever. Where do you think that power source will come from in a suit. Do you think taking a magazine of 7.62 rounds will not nock you on your ass. Those rounds have some extreme kinectic energy and move at about 2400 fps. You may survive but you will not stand there as they bounce off your suit, ridiculous.

Except that you would because of 2 reasons.

1. The impact would be lessened because the suit would deflect them into a different direction, thus directing that kinetic energy elsewhere.

2. I'm sure the weight of the suit will also be enough to counteract any knock back power from a small arms weapon. Now you start pelting someone with a .50 cal machine gun and that's a different story.
