The Mississippi Bat Working Group, a collection of biologists, ecologists, and bat enthusiests are gathering at Percy Quin State Park in McComb, MS September 19-21 for their annual mist net event. This is where they catch, record, and tag the different bat species they catch.

Me and my 7 year old daughter were in the back yard watching the bats fly around the other night and she asked lots of questions so while I was looking up info about the bats I came across this website and I'm thinking about taking her to the event so she can see and learn about bats and how they are studied.
Has anyone here ever been?
Also, if you want to handle the bats you have to get the rabies vaccine.
The pre exposure vaccine is available at Walgreens. It's a series of 3 shots at 0, 7, and 21-28 days. The price for all 3 shots in about $1000 without insurance. I'm not sure if Insurance will cover it.
