Fwiw I talked to a corr of engineer guy today and he was looking at a levee gate by my trailor.
He said that it's fixing to get bad again, I said like a couple years ago bad?...he said yeah.

I know it upsets the balance in the lake in the short term, but it's great for the health of the lake over the long term. I hope they do open the Bonnet Carre this year. It was really cool a few years ago.

I've heard they are way more comfortable opening the morganza spillway if needed since it performed well a few years ago

Their isn't even water up to the gates yet though. The potato levee near the river is still intact I guess

Don't see it happening. River crested in BR on April 3rd. I see another little bump is coming down but it looks short lived.

River only got to 1 million cfs last week in BR needs to be 1.25 million to open Bonnet Carre and 1.5 million to open Morganza. Don't think thats gonna happen unless they get some serious rain in Ohio Valley.

The water is already seeping through the gates and the roads in the spillway are closed; water a foot or two over them at least right now. That's gonna be about the worst of it this year, won't need to open it.
