It's pretty comical we live in a country so loaded with morons that we hold guys like Ray Rice accountable for smacking an insolent woman, but a cop gets a vacation for it.

You don't know that. Emotional anguish and PTSD can be a real bitch in instances like these.

I dont care if it was a man. It is against the law to attack someone who is not a threat to you, be it a man or woman

So, this person is drunk and refuses to leave, obviously belligerent enough to even get arrested. Then calls the cop n*gger, spits on him, and kicks him while being detained.

He grabbed her purse and was being forcefull. Are you telling me the club bouncers couldn't escort her out?
Dude, she's 100 lbs.

And you left out the part where he PUNCHED her and tried to kick her in the head! WHILE HANDCUFFED!

Yes, she was a dumb arse drunk lush. But you cannot let an escort out of the building turn into a HANDCUFFED little woman being punched and kicked.

His record proves his state of mind, fortunately or unfortunately. This is why society is turning on cops, when they have issues, they are swept under the rug to be repeat offenders themselves. And that's criminal.

keep paying out huge settlements
That's part of the problem, the city could settle for millions of dollars and it won't touch an officers paycheck.

Nobody is saying that a woman aggressor cannot be retaliated against. I'm sure there are times when it is appropriate.

However, is it too much to ask that a cop keep his anger in check and act professionally and rationally when performing his job? His response to her little attempt at a kick was ridiculous. My 3 year old can kick me in the ankle harder than that. I'm not going to "retaliate" (as you put it) by punching and kicking him in the face because that too would be ridiculous.

She's a model just like any goof who spends a few hundred bucks on camera is a photographer.

Very stupid to kick a cop. However, a cop needs to show more restraint than this. She is no physical threat to him in that situation. He reacted instantly out of anger and cops just can't do that. She was wrong and his reaction was wrong.

True.

It appears she may have learned a lesson. Perhaps the cop is about to now learn one.

This will not make primetime news.

Meh, barely I guess. You are starting to sound like as big a pussy as that cop must be based on his reaction to that little kick.

That's fine with me. At the end of the day, if you assult, disobey, or run from a cop, you deserve everything you get.

You ever notice that it's never engineers, doctors, CEOs, CFOs, etc that these stories come out about?

Why? Because they're intelligent and understand that they are not in control of the situation.

Sorry, Baw.

This is just a shockingly stupid thing to say. So no questions asked if you disobey a cop you get whatever reaction that cop thinks is appropriate? There is no objective reasonable standard by which we should judge the cop's response? Very interesting.

Agreed for the most part. It's kind of a non sequitur though. Everyone acknowledges that what the woman did was stupid and technically even criminal and that smart people are less likely to engage in that behavior. The question is what should the cop's response be?

Sorry, Baw.

Don't be sorry, be better. Think better.

Should the cop have held some back? Sure, but the reason I'm okay with what he did is because it would have all been prevented had she not tried to kick him.

Now, had she been sitting on the ground cuffed, not saying a word and he just walk up to her and punch her like that, it's a totally different story.

I chuckle every time someone on the OT posts how unattractive some women's pics are when most of those posters look like this...
