you spend like 40% of your time on this earth sleeping. it is worth paying a lot to do it the best way you can.

By that logic, if I commute to work then I should do so on spinners. I spend an hour in my car a day, I should pay "a lot to do it the best way you can".

Apples to oranges - people that commute should put money into having a quality vehicle that's properly maintained. That's the practical equivalent to spending more than a few bucks on a quality mattress to ensure a higher quality of sleep.

There's a reason why no other mattress comes close to the customer satisfaction level that tempurpedic has. You get what you pay for and they last 20 years.

you can get just as good mattresses as temperpedic for half the price and longer warranties

temperpedic just markets itself better

I got the firmest tempurpedic they made in '07.

It's still like new.

According to Sleeplikethedead's website, customers are more satisfied with latex than memory foam. It doesn't directly compare tempurpedic foam to any specific latex, but to say that there is nothing with near the customer satisfaction level is not true.

What about a mattress base(box spring?) I have thought about getting a new mattress and have gone to a few mattress stores. Of course, they try to upswell you on everything and that includes buying a mattress/base set. Is there any reason to not use my current Simmons box spring and just purchase a mattress?

Casper...thank me later

Researched all the mattresses went to the stores blah blah...not spending 2k-3k on a mattress...with a crappy return policy and the mark up is out of control.

Casper...no tax..free shipping..made in USA..100 day trial and if you don't like it they pick it up and donate it. If you do decide go to with Casper let me know..they sent me an email with a code for $50 off.

Heard good things about the Sleep Innovations also..

Either way when you switch to a new mattress you need to give it a couple of weeks for you body to adjust.

Serta I-Comfort.

Thats the kind I got. I went in assuming I was walking out with Tempur-Pedic, but I-Comfort was half the price and more comfortable to me. The Tempur-Pedics were so rigid.

It may work, but foam beds have a tendency to sag and need a little more support than a traditional innerspring mattress.a sheet of plywood on top of it will definitely be good enough if your old box spring doesn't do the trick on its own.

I only got to the 2nd recommendation for the Serta iComfort before I wanted to agree. We have the cooling beads/gel on top and it's literally the best sleep I never knew I wasn't getting.

I had mattresses of varying qualities and I never really went out of my way to worry about that. But when we bought this while we were getting our house, I woke up-pardon the sh!tty pun-to the fact that there is such a thing as better sleep with a better mattress.

It's flat out the most comfortable night's sleep I've ever had. I can't recommend it enough.

ETA: It was just over $1K

Anyone have experience with Tuft & Needle mattresses? They're getting great reviews everywhere I see them online.

Foam density has a lot to do with sagging issues.
