Well that was a pretty interesting read.

It kinda reminded me of the Body Farm where they place human remands in various environmental conditions to study how they decompose and what insects and animals appear at what times. (People volunteer their bodies to be placed there when they die.) They apply that research to forensics and solving murders. Pretty cool actually.

And then I fell down the rabbit hole and ended up reading the other articles about a feral cat program to reduce rats, the fact that there are only a few thousand tigers left in the wild, a two faced kitten in China, ancient cave art....

Reminds me of Tennessee's body farm.

So an entire study to say not to cull wild pigs because it could be bad for the environment?

Not the way I read it.

I read, "Do not leave a 6,000 pound of dead pigs out in your woods, unless you want a colony of buzzards to take over the adjacent trees, and a terrible dead pig stink to take over."

Probably would be the same with 6,000 pounds of dead nutria in your backyard.

Just speculation on my part.

I bet that test plot got funky - funky

I guess the extinction of the dinosaurs was due to climate change too.

I think dinosaurs started taking a knee during the national anthem and that led to their demise.

Or maybe it was Xbox games

I forget the exact reason.

But it made all of the papers and drove Al Gore to tears.

Damn Nature, you efficient!

Seriously, I think this is very interesting. Shows how the various elements of the natural world contribute to breaking down and removing corpses.

He didn't post the link with the video? I saw the article with the video and you don't want to see it. It'll frick you up for a couple of days. I wish I hadn't seen it. There is no exaggeration in the article. There was one part of the video were there was probably 30,000 giant maggots at the very least on one corpse. You couldn't even see any of the pig.

Well, technically it was. A 6 mile asteroid traveling at 72,000 MPH will get you a whole lotta climate change my friend.
