Stopped reading after the first paragraph blamed mass animal deaths on global warming
Pretty sure mass unexplained animal deaths have happened for as long as man has kept records

So an entire study to say not to cull wild pigs because it could be bad for the environment?
Yeah ok
Yeah ok

The only good pig is a dead pig.

In nature, mass mortality sometimes happens. More than 200,000 saiga antelopes in Kazakhstan drop dead in a matter of weeks; 337 dead whales wash up in a remote fjord in southern Chile; some 300 reindeer in Norway are felled by a single bolt of lightning— all that has happened since 2015. There’s evidence such spectacular displays of death are increasing in frequency due to climate change.
WTF. Interesting article besides that baseless assertion about climate change.
I guess the extinction of the dinosaurs was due to climate change too.

I cannot imagine how foul the smell must have been.
Anything and everything being blamed on "climate change" gets tiresome, but this was an interesting article. However, I find it hard to believe that 3 tons of dead feral hogs could possibly be worse for the environment than 3 tons of live feral hogs. If they think armadillos rooting for maggots can disturb a landscape, they need to pen up some feral hogs and watch what they do.

More victims from the LSU game.

Never heard MSU wives called dead pigs before.

In agreement about the article being interesting, and also in agreement about the need to tie everything to warming. Does inclusion of the phrase warming guarantee funding nowadays?
There are too many bone graveyards in the fossil record that are unexplained, they are just there. But they are there when mankind wasn't. They are there when there's no evidence of massive volcanic ash falls, etc.

I think 2 tons of feral hogs roaming around can cause more evironmental destruction than 2 tons stacked up dead in a 200sf area.

Now I have no idea what that evidence is or whether it is any good, but the claim is that it is evidence and not baseless.

Go ahead and read the article. Dont stop just because of one stupid comment. It is pretty interesting.
I dont think the writer was saying not to have the mass killing of hogs, just explained what happens to the soil etc when it happens.
Most of us dont kill 6000 pounds of hogs and put them in a big pile. A friend who used to have a place 4-5 miles from mine (on the river, I am not) had a real problem. His step mom is a hog assassin. She would kill 350 or more every year. She was semi retired and really enjoyed riding in her modified golf cart and shooting hogs. Did it every day (and night). But hers were spread out over 3000 acres and there were never any rivers of maggots.

I've got a few spots they should study. Greasy mofo's will leave a dead spot for a damn year.
