No clue what I did but I have pretty significant pain on the inside of my knee. After some brief research, looks like not much can be done but wait for it to heal. It's been a 3 weeks and doesn't seem to be getting any better. Anyone have any experience with this injury? Is it time to go see an orthopedist?

Helping a friend hang Sheetrock. Was up and down on my knees all day. Can't pinpoint exactly when it happened though. I thought I was just sore at first.

If you tore it, you would likely need surgery. Tore mine but tore my ACL at the same time so can't really tell you what it felt like. Agree with other poster how did you hurt it?

You need an MRI to properly diagnose. But that can be expensive.

It can heal over time depending on damage. Surgery for MCL isn't very common unless combined with ACL, meniscus tears.

I did my MCL when I was 19. Never had surgery and it turned into an MCL, ACL and meniscus injury. I'd say go see your doctor, have him refer you to get an MRI.

I guess I'm wondering how long is a reasonable time to heal? I know it depends on severity, but it's been a while with no relief. I don't know if I'm being impatient or need to get an MRI.

If it's not completely torn, it will probably heal with rest or restricted movement.
Try to find a brace or sit on your arse for a week.

with the lack of trauma, and the mechanism of injury apparently being overuse, I am betting pes anserine bursitis over a MCL tear

Run some dirt on it. Honestly, I would wait it out unless the pain is really bad or there is an issue with swelling.

Completely ruptured my Achilles, so it was pretty apparent when it rolled up to my calf. I would think a partial tear would suck because you just kind of have to stay off it. If you are still walking around, it isn't going to heal and the pain will continue.

Doesn't sound like anything that would cause an MCL tear.

I'd go with this most likely

pes anserine bursitis
