Attorneys for Alton Sterling's children sent a letter Wednesday to Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie demanding that the two officers involved in Sterling's fatal shooting last July be fired. Hours later, Broome joined the family in the call for discipline, agreeing that one of the officers, Blane Salamoni, be terminated.

quote:

"I believe they should be removed from paid administrative leave and disciplined consistent with the severity of their actions. In Officer Salamoni’s case, this warrants termination," Broome wrote in reply to the Sterling family.

quote:

She said she will be personally calling on Dabadie to do just that, which is the latest sign she is trying to further distance herself from the police chief. "While I do not have the direct authority to terminate these officers, Chief Dabadie does," Broome's letter says. "I understand and respect the need for fairness and due process, but the process has gotten us here."

This should be fun to watch

Serious question, could the officers sue if they are disciplined after being cleared?

If so, Dabadie should discipline and then quit. Let someone else deal with it.

The mayor just said she'd have no problem firing a police officer for doing his job after he was officially ruled justified after investigation and trial.

Wow.

Shreveport is officially a better city than both BR and Nola. Not because of their leadership. Because they have multiple loops.

"The process has gotten us here"

Yep it has gotten us to the ruling of a justified shooting. So lets fire the innocent officers involved! Makes sense to me. Broome Hilda for President!

These are the people running the fricking city-parish.

They give zero fricks about due-process when it comes to something they want. I can't begin to imagine the amount of money they're going to cost this city over the next 6 years because they are completely ignorant of laws and policies.

The officers should sue her for defamation. Take one out of their own playbook.

I would be thrilled to sign a recall petition today.
