EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Mayor-president Sharon Weston Broome, the Baton Rouge Police Department, and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says despite February 14 being the deadliest day of shootings so far this year, they are still committed to the safety of all citizens in the city and parish. "The past few days have been a tragic time in our community and we are certainly concerned about the lives that were lost and the increase of homicides in our parish. Anytime you have that number of individuals who are killed it's certainly alarming. Yet, I want the public to know that we will rise above such violence as citizens work together with law enforcement to end the senseless shootings that make our communities unsafe. The violence must stop," said Mayor Broome

It's just one person. We used to have a mayor and a president but we had to consolidate due to budget cuts.

It's a joint position that would be comparable to a Mayor and County Commissioner being the same person.

We need a new police chief since homicide is on the decline.

Lafayette has it too. And Orleans, by default.

No one tells more fibs about crime, than Liberal Mayors, of Major cities.

If you listened to the Mayors of Chicago,Newark,Detroit,St.Louis, you would think that crime dried up to just petty misdemeanors.

Yet people being killed daily.

Work with law enforcement?

Why not work with parents, communities and the failing school systems
