No, that's Brandon and Brenda's dad.

I think he's thinking of the old 49ers football coach.

You shouldn't. You've clearly outdistanced yourself from such peasantry right here.

He's correct. A good classroom depends more on quality students than great teachers. It's a job that could see most of its members replaced by technology

This is likely to happen, which makes me happy that I'm 22 years in. Interpersonal communication is becoming obsolete in many segments of our society. Online education and homeschooling are exploding, especially the former.

And by “slightly” I mean that I consider the public school system to be a cannibalistic mutation that brainwashes our children, devours their individuality and their creativity, and annihilates the moral values their parents instilled in them (if any were instilled at all).

I believe he stole this thought from a George Carlin stand-up bit.

Seems to an uninformed douche trying to get into the AM radio crowd groupthink sphere who give all their money to the beloved celebriries by parroting the ideas they wish to gear. I don't blame him, seems like good money. Bill O the Clown wrote the same book like 6 times and those morons bought each one.

So, the sad fact remains, like it or not: kids are going to school, but they aren’t learning. Well, that’s not entirely fair. They do learn how to masturbate. And they learn about sodomy. And they learn about transvestites.

Most of the good educators I know (and I know some), hate the system we have now. But I feel like there's a lot of people in public and politics out of tune with what teachers are dealing with in a lot of areas.

I've seen a lot of good teachers walk away from the profession, especially ECE/Special Ed teachers, because they're burnt out. These are the folks whose day doesn't stop at 2:20 pm when the kids leave or in the summer when they're attending PDs in order to keep up with the newest teaching strategies and etc. They're walking away because there's this sentiment that they should fix all of society's social woes and that they should be punished when they don't. Nor should they be expected to be a surrogate parent when they're not.

A teacher should never have to step back into a classroom with a kid that's physically assaulted them. They shouldn't be expected to have every single kid, mental/emotional issues or not, to be "college ready". I've seen this happen multiple times when I worked in an at-risk public school. They send kinds off for "alternative placement" for 6 weeks and expect them to come back "rehabilitated". It's insane. And it's happening at higher and higher rates as parents and legislators are given more control over what happens in a classroom.

Most everyone wants better, but we're handcuffed by legislative tape that wants to turn a blind eye to what's walking into a teacher's classrooms.
