Just to add a little perspective the clusterf*** political mess that contributed to the shooting...

This is a prime example of small town politics needing to be closely watched by parish/state officials. It is up to parish DA's and sheriffs to minimize a lot of this as much as possible.

For its size, that little pond has more (political and otherwise) big fish and wannabe big fish than even an average Louisiana native can imagine.

Talking about corruption...how does an Assistant DA (salary in the 30 to 40K range) mysteriously have a million dollar piece of property he can use for bond.

Most rural ADAs are part-time - so, he draws that minimum from the state funded slot (or the district funded slot if it is a special) - and he has a law practice on the side.
