I live in New Orleans and today was stopped downtown by someone asking me if I needed directions somewhere. I politely replied "no." The lady told me she thought I needed directions by the way I was looking at my phone. (Was reading a text and walking..)

Got me thinking, do tourists still use paper guides to get around the city? I see those stands around the FQ giving out free guides, but do you actually use them?

I usually just use my phone if I need directions.

A map app of good places to go in tourist destinations. I think you may be on to something.

I read "Map guides for terrorists" and was intrigued by your treasonous thread.

Call me disappointed.

I don't imagine the hard copy map/ atlas business does very well these days. I got into a guy's truck the other day that had a gps on the dash. He actually punched in the destination.

My mind was blown.

And to answer your question Christ I live in the CBD and see people all the time with those paper maps. A lot use their phones now they didn't use them just 2-3 years ago

Also I see people stand out on the corner all the time and I'm known for asking if someone needs directions and helping people. I'm sure some on this board can even say the same about me.

A cool story bro, back several years ago I asked a group of girls if they needed directions and ended up showing a bachelorette party from NC around for the night .... Never know whet being nice will take you

About 8 months ago was going to a Party at a friends in Prairieville. Not being familiar with the area I looked it up online before going. Unfortunately those direction got me lost and for whatever reason my phone decided to completely quit responding to input. I unsuccessfully tried 7 stores (gas stations, auto parts place, freaking wal mart) and not a one had a paper map of the area, and employees looked at me like I had three heads when asked about where to find a map in the stores. Crazy how bad that industry must be hurting now days
