Fun fact. Since the statues have come down NOLA has had the lowest murder rate in almost 40 years.

There is a bar right there that used to be Chuck's 24/7 that has turned a bit hood over the past several years. It's a service industry hangout fwiw

Turned? It's always been sort of skid rowish.

Looks like the Sandpiper Lounge is closed again.

Haven't had the joy of dodging drunks at 3am in a while.

I'm not at all agreeing with you without seeing proof, but it's amazing how much the murder rate has dropped in the last three months. It's like some kind spell has been cast over the city. We know nothing really has been done to stop it, but it has been pretty quite considering how it was trending.

Maybe all these years of killing each other off are finally starting to pay off.

I keep waiting for one of the OT NOLA bashers to start a thread.

Instead we get this thread about an apparent bar brawl.

It's not a spell or magic. It's the election.

The political machines behind Charbonet and Cantrell employ a shitload of black youth and community activists and they work everyday in those communities and churches. It keeps people who are otherwise roaming the streets busy.

It's interesting what actual community involvement and activity can do isn't it? Too bad it only happens for 3-4 months very 4-8 years.

Charbonnet's team was driving around blasting "Trigger Man" from one of their sign trucks.

It's one of those few areas of NOLA that you think should be immune to violent crime. This doesn't seem like the typical thuggery type crime, though, and the city is in a legit great stretch of not-atrocious crime levels. It would need to continue for quite a while before I believe the city MIGHT be turning around. And Cantrell winning in 10 days would ensure that the decline is real. Charbonnet winning wouldn't be far off.
