In February, vets told Thomas Neil Rodriguez that his 15-year-old mixed-breed dog, Poh, had multiple health issues and that his days were numbered, news.com.au reported. So the New York City-area man and his fiancée set off on a cross-country tour to check off his bucket list during what little time the canine has left.

A 15 year old dog with health issues would probably rather stay at home and enjoy what he knows.

I'm sure the dog would've been thrilled to live out his final days getting treats and licking his balls, but ok.

Yeah, geez I always feel bad for a pet owner who knows their friend won't be around much longer.

But dang, come on. Your dog doesn't know what the frick bourbon street is...or the Washington monument...or Hollywood...

let the old chap spend his last days in the security and comfort of its home with its owners.

This. The guy did it for himself, not for his dog.

The dog got to spend all day every day for seven weeks with his parents and got to swim/walk in the ocean (which he really seemed to enjoy from the photos and story).

All a dog wants to do is be with its family. I don't think it matters where.

Why the frick not.

Great story.

I hate to be the skeptical Debbie downer, but...

#1: of course the story is going to be put in a positive light If that was the intent. They're not exactly going to go all Woodward and Bernstein for a story like this.

#2: Virtually all animals are creatures of habit. When we desire safety and comfort, we return to what we are familiar with. This is a dog. It does not care about the thrill of seeing tourist attractions or monuments. Obviously, I can't say for sure, but if I were a betting man, I would say a trip like this would add a lot of undue stress to this dog's last days. Dogs were not meant to be cooped up in cars for thousand mile road trips, I don't care if it was with its owners or not.
