Apple products can't be enhanced or altered for improvement. I bought my Asus computer tower and put like $500 in upgraded hardware in it, good luck doing that with a Mac.

That's why we buy Macs, we don't have to waste time trying to improve them.

I know this is true for the film industry.

General Electric has been giving employees the choice of Mac or PC for several years, and now IBM is offering employees Macs. When you go to coffee shops around any university, and see the shear number of Macs in use it is obvious what the main platform of the future will be.

I think you are making the whole point. The younger generation uses Macs for their media value. All those clowns in coffee shops pretending to be photographers or videographers or musicians lol. My wife had a Mac in college and now has an HP with windows. She grew up.

Also is a Mac from 10 years ago as good as one today from a new technology standpoint. I can continuously upgrade and change specs on my computer to fit my needs. I add new graphics cards and power supply's to meet a games demands or anything else. My computer can stay modern as it gets older.

My wife got her Mac in 2010, battery didn't explode but swole up to the point it broke the mouse pad. Curious what the failure rate is with that issue.

Dude. A crap ton of Mac owners think that.

Mac owners have always confused a lack of interest in their systems for security.

The bottom line is, if you are a bad assed virus or malware guy, what are you going to spend time doing......propogating malicious shite that targets 13% of the computers out there, or shite that targets about 80%?

Apple owners thinking that their computers have some special anti-viral capabilities are morons. Give Apple 80% of the PC market and then watch them lead the world in getting viruses.

Why did a tech guy like you not post this on the tech board?

Because he has a vendetta against Macs and just wants to gloat about it.

How come I've never gotten a virus on my Macbook but lots on pcs?

Its simple really

Mac is a small portion of the market size, so it makes more sense to create viruses on PC to infect more people.

I know plenty, at least a few years back, who would pay double or more for a Mac. The only reasoning was that it couldnt fet a virus. They admittedly knew nothing about computers. But that reputation was what convinced them to soend more. And as some replaced batteries etc that cost nearly as much as my laptop, I sat back and laughed to myself.

Can't even upgrade ram or SSD on the new Macbook Pros like you could on early 2012 and prior. I think the new iMacs have gone the same route for ram, not sure on hard drive.

So some a-hole sucking down overpriced coffee while blogging about how proud they are of paying $200 for a "vintage" t-shirt on their MacBook Air is indicative of the future to you? If Jobs hadn't been so egotistical and got proper medical treatment he'd be here to thank you for blowing him.

Macs are more restrictive in file system permissions which also makes it more difficult for successful virus execution.

The platforms are just different. PCs with Windows are more open and convenient whereas Macs are closed and restrictive. Just go with what you're comfortable with.

I'll admit I'm not a tech savvy person either. But I can buy a pretty decent laptop for $500. I can get the same in a Mac for about $1200. I have not gotten a computer virus in years (although I'm sure I'll get one now ). I just don't have a need for a Mac. I really don't mind them, just not worth the money to me. I think people pushing the "Mac is the future" agenda are jumping on that train just a little too early. It's a fad, not really based on any technological advances in my opinion.

And the battery issue is real. Just in this thread we see multiple reports. I know people IRL who had the issue as well. Wasn't cheap to fix at all.

you can get all of that fixed at the Apple store for a $250 (before tax) flat rate
