Plans to hold an exhibition displaying one of the four remaining copies of the Magna Carta at Renmin University in Beijing were unexpectedly scrapped at the last minute. With little warning the exhibition was moved to the British Ambassador’s residence in Beijing, where it was decidedly more inaccessible to its Chinese audience.

No official reason given, but rumors are they don't want citizens exposed to the document that laid the foundation for constitutional government.
They won't even display the Latin version... Is the Chinese government concerned about some kind of uprising?

This is par for the course in China. Look at the whole Hong Kong thing last year.

I just don't see why they agreed to have it there in the first place if they're just going to hide it?

Xi has been putting a greater focus on dedication to the communist ideal since he became president so this comes as no surprise.

They have locked up hundreds of human rights laywer's lately on the grounds of actions detrimental to the party. Say anything negative about the way the government treats their people and you are going to jail.

This is one of the reasons we need to protect our open and unrestricted internet freedoms. When we have open and free interwebs we don't need to rely on the government to decide what's right or wrong for citizens to read. Research CISPA. They're trying to take this away right here in America right now.
