What's ups O.T. Over the past year I've had three irregular CT scans of the lungs, this after a long bout with pneumonia last year.
Multiple nodules at the base of both lungs. No other symptoms to note, so The pulmonologist mentioned biopsy using the VATS procedure.
Anyone ever had this done and wanna share your experience Id appreciate it. Thanks
ETA
O.T doctors chime in as well please

Id rather get a CT guided biopsy, less invasive but that might not be an option for you.
Could also try a PET CT, if thats negative could just follow with CT

Yeah being at the base of my lungs I don't think it's a valuable options. That's just my assumption though

My dad had basically the same thing and fought pneumonia for about 3 months before going to the ER one day. Turned out he had Small Cell Lung Cancer. He passed 21 months later which is 18 more than they originally gave him.

sorry to hear about your dad. Dr doesn't believe it to be cancer due to my age, 35, and also these nodules seem to be "migrating" come and go between scans. Some have disappeared others have not.

Got nothing, but I wish you the best.

My dad smoked and was exposed to asbestos over the years. He was doomed.

Did he have any guesses thus far?

Dude. Your Doctor told you that you are too young to get lung cancer? You better go get a second opinion.

He didn't say I was too young. The likely hood is minimal along with my other test.
And he is puzzled by it, but leaning some sort of inflammatory process

I had a lung biopsy.
I was a little nervous, they hit me with some feel good shite and I was out for majority of it although it doesn't take long.
They used a scope with a camera and then it has the little biopsy deal on the end that takes the sample.
They can go through your nose which I think is the easiest of your mouth... it really isn't bad... I coughed up a little blood for about a half a day but that was it.

There's all kinds of critters that can infect, inhabit, leech off, colonize, etc..
Yeast, worms, bacteria, viruses, molds. (You'd be shocked at what winds up in some people's lungs!!) All are possible, hence the biopsy, especially since it comes and goes, 1st here, then there. Once they know what you got going on in there they'll know how to fix it or be able to form a plan to fight it at least.
Cancer would generally start in a particular area and stay there in addition to spreading. There are exceptions of course.
Main thing for your own peace of mind of the procedure and stuff: While this is all new and unknown and thus scary. For your Dr. it's ho hum, another day another dollar, wheel 'em in and let's get it over with, 5-7 more of these on today's schedule alone.

Sorry about your dad. My father also had small/oat cell lung cancer. He lasted 13 months from diagnosis to death.
Chemo went well and his PET scans were clean. Everything was looking good. Although he showed no signs of cancer, apparently this type of lung cancer frequently metastasizes to the brain. The oncologists recommended a prophylactic round of radiation therapy to his brain. So they zapped him for 28 straight days. Within two or three months it was obvious something was wrong. He ended up spending his last 3-1/2 months in a SNF, not knowing up from down.
Did your father have this type of radiation therapy? I know one other person who was in the same boat as my father and the head radiation treatment fricked him up, too.

No help, but wish you the best of luck.
I've been dealing with colon and liver issues for 2 years. Too many CT scans and test to count only for them to say I have an infection.
Liver biopsy on Monday.

I think the risk of small cell lung cancer, if you aren't a smoker, is extremely low for someone your age.

I quit smoking 7 years ago. Also all my lung function test are 105% plus.

What made you decide to get a CT scan?
