I'm just wondering how these two schools compare academically. I think UNO may be a better fit with smaller classes and not having to fight huge crowds. I'm not a traditional student so I'm only worried about the academic side of things.

Another thing I'm concerned about are the people in Louisiana. Are they friendly towards outsiders? I was born in the south and have lived most of my life in the south but I do not have a southern accent. Living here in Alabama has been a nightmare. People have been really nasty in the town I live in. It's not something I would like to continue to experience.

I have fond memories of living in Carriere/Picayune Mississippi as a child and its one of the reasons I'm looking at coming back to the area. The other reason is I've heard from several people that LSU has an excellent mathematics program.

I know a ton of people without Southern accents that are not treated any differently at all. Baton Rouge and New Orleans locals both don't really have southern accents anyway when compared to other places.

If you're trying to say that you're Asian, then yes UNO would be the perfect fit.

I don't think this really matters, one in three college students is raped every semester regardless of age or traditional status. If you go to school in Louisiana, or anywhere really, then you're going to get raped.

So if there is a 33% chance each semester he will be raped, and he attends for 8 semesters, what is the percent chance he will be raped at least twice total over the course of his 8 semesters?

Just go to LSU. Bring your talent, refine it. You will be fine.

Don't worry about not fitting in. A big campus means everyone can find a place and a social group to call home.

No one at LSU will care where you are from or what your voice sounds like. People at LSU are from everywhere.

Like most places, LSU is what you make of it. But at LSU, the resources for success are EVERYWHERE.

Would the drive from Picayune to UNO be manageable? I know my father drove to Martin Marrietta/Michoud on a daily basis back in the 80's.

Prepare for thy anus to be raped. I'd recommend bleaching your bunghole

Study linguistics at ULL, they have a really cute guy on their flag line and you could come back and report to the rest of the posters in this thread the meaning of the term "troll".

If you're planning on commuting from Picayune, I would definitely choose UNO over LSU.

you'd be driving with the traffic everyday, to and from school.....the traffic out there can be brutal sometimes. I wouldnt do it.
