LSU Table - Need advice
I'm building a table with LSU in the center using 2"x2" ceramic tiles. I cut out the center and will glue the tiles to a separate piece of plywood that I'll attach from the bottom (floating). The tiles will be about an 1/8" from being flush with the oak plywood. I was hoping to pour a thick layer of varnish of the entire surface including the tiles after staining the plywood. What say the OT? Is varnish a good/bad idea over the tiles?

would've preferred to do that but ran out of tiles. had them leftover from a previous project and very difficult to find in small quantities.

Thinking about pouring epoxy resin on the surface.

I live LSU, but I wouldn't know WTF to do with an LSU lacquered table.

Making it for my son's college condo. Nothing fancy, just something he'll be able to use to eat / spill beer on...
