LSU prez: We're burning through reserves for medical school
Greg Hilburn, USA TODAY Network
LSU President F. King Alexander said the university is "burning through our reserves" to fund its Shreveport medical school doctors and residents because BRF is months behind on its payments.
"It's more worrisome now than it has been in the past five years because they're working off the backs of our revenues and our reserves and it puts us in a fiscally unstable environment," Alexander said Tuesday in an interview with The Times' Editorial Board.
BRF operates the state's safety net hospitals in Monroe and Shreveport as a partner of the state and in conjunction with the LSU Health medical school.

F King airing LSU's dirty laundry in the media to pressure the state for more money. Again.

I smell another tax increase. Might even get to 12% sales tax before long.

There is a major rural physician shortage in Louisiana.
There are actually rumors that a 3rd school will be opening up in Monroe (Osteopathic) while a branch of the LSU-New Orleans is establishing itself in Baton Rouge.
Alexander cries wolf every legislative session. I don't think this time is any different.

But he just gave the employees there first raise in 5 years. An entire 3% to be implemented in two phases 6 months apart. Yet they wonder why the staff turnover is so high and they cant find good candidates to replace those who leave. He is running the place like a fast food chain.

I heard there's a good chance they'll have to cancel football.

The solution to a shortage of medical doctors is to replace them with bone crackers.

Aren't there loan forgiveness programs for rural doctors? Seems like a good, quick way to help some people and eliminate a good deal of debt to Uncle Sam.

I wish we'd cancel F King Alexander. He's a world class douche bag.
He was supposed to be Hillary Clinton's Secretary of Education, but we lost our chance to get rid of him when Trump kicked her arse.

Budget for next year will be a big issue. From what i am being told Capitol Outlays will be effected "Bigly" next year.
the state had a bond sale last week ($340ish Million) and the bond commission is telling them no more bond sales until August of 18. A lot of Priority 1 & 2 capitol projects will be put on hold or stopped all together. even hearing projects in design may be stopped because they know there are no funds for construction.

90% chance Alexander is crying wolf. This is his attempt to scare people in north Louisiana into voting for higher taxes.
