I have recently been accepted to both schools. If I go to LSU I will graduate with minimal debt because I went to undergrad for free and can now use that money to pay for law school. If I go to Tulane I will have to take out loans but it is a better ranked school. What would you recommend. Is it worth paying more for a tulane education? Inb4 don't go to law school become an engineer or work offshore
Edit: want to practice in Baton Rouge/Nola area

If you want to stay in Louisiana LSU is the best bet. If you want to live in another state after you graduate you should go to Tulane.

I recommend you don't go to law school.

I went to LSU on full scholarship, and I chose it over Tulane. Go to Tulane.

LSU used to be the best for passing the bar in Louisiana. I am not sure if that is still the case.

LSU is every bit as good of a school as Tulane, it's exponentially cheaper and the whole notion that Tulane is the ticket if you want to go out of state isn't terribly accurate either.

I would go to LSU to avoid getting into debt.

This is LSU vs Tulane. not LSU vs Harvard.

It is all dependent on where you want to practice. If you want to practice outside of Louisiana, go to Tulane. Major law firms in Houston and Dallas and in the northeast and Chicago hire from Tulane.

LSU is far more Louisiana-centric. You could possibly get out of LSU with a job at a major Houston or Dallas law firm (my wife did), but they are slim pickings. If you want to live and work in BR, NOLA, Shreveport, or Laffy, go to LSU. Not even a question. Otherwise, Tulane.

It's not a ticket to anything. You don't go to Tulane and walk out with a job just for graduating. It's not Harvard or Yale or Stanford. If you want to work outside of Louisiana, you still have to do very well at Tulane, but the opportunities to get out of Louisiana are far, far more plentiful at Tulane than they are at LSU. And it's not even close.

ETA: even if LSU is, in actuality, a better school (imo).
