Was LSU your first choice, or was it more of an economical choice paired with a lifelong love of LSU and a desire for the fan/party experience? If you had your pick of schools and admissions standards/tuition were not a concern, would you still have chosen LSU?

Money was #1 reason I chose LSU
Didn't turn out too bad, had a great time while I was there

Money was #1. Got into Michigan, but would've been magnitudes more expensive.
It being home/actually knowing people was #2.

LSU was the only school applied to
I really didn't want to move too far away from home and tops made staying in state an easy decision

Yes, but I also desired to stay in the BR/NOLA area and I have a good job. Having said that, I had offers to go other places, so I wasn't limited by my choice of college too much IMO. My experiences at LSU was worth any other ancillary benefits I'd have gotten from going elsewhere.

Loved LSU, never really considered anywhere else.

All of this

I chose LSU because I wanted to get out of Texas for awhile. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in oil and gas, so it was a natural fit. I paid more than I would've like, but I don't think I would've changed anything.

Got into a few schools, turned them down. Michigan was my top choice. Way too expensive.

Same here. TOPS kept me in state and LSU was the only school I considered.

Went to UL-Lafayette, much better engineering program.

Considered Georgia Tech and Auburn, but never applied to either. LSU was my first choice. ChemEngr

LSU was really the only place I seriously considered. I applied to other schools just in case but once accepted to LSU that was pretty much it. I ended up in Engineering but I didn't start out that way. I had a bunch of majors before settling on EE. If I had known I was going to become an Engineer, I might have gone to Tech because my family was living in N. La. at the time. But I'm happy with my choice and I wouldn't trade my time at LSU for anything.

Money was big reason. And a lifelong tiger fan. I don't regret a day of my college decision so far. I like it all here.

I never really even imagined going to any out of state school. College was always a guarantee, but it never even dawned on me to apply out of state or to try to get into any "better" schools until I was well into my time at LSU.
I originally had a scholarship to LaTech in addition to TOPS. Was interested in flight school though. About this time of the year my senior year of high school, I realized I was always an LSU fan and couldn't imagine living in Ruston. Applied to LSU really late and started out "pre-law" whatever the hell that even is. Before I was even out of UCFY (the college all freshmen join before going into their degree specific college), I had switched to ME. I was taking the classes needed on the degree audit from the first semester.
If I could go back, I'd try for a more prestigious school, but in reality, I think you learn the same thing no matter where you go. It's up to you how well you learn the material. The school rankings definitely may get you some more interviews. But really good grades from LSU will get you a good career as well. And although O&G is down right now, LSU average starting salary is probably pretty competitive due to the industry around us (plants, o&g, marine, levees, etc.).

Chose LSU cause boosie told me put that yella jersey on mayne.
Actually only other schools I even entertained was Tulane and GA Tech.
You would think MIT or Cal Institute of Tech are pretty much no brainers, but I doubt I would have done well at those universities. Plus free Jambalaya at tailgates and getting to yell STTDB can't be done at one university in the world.
