Not legit...a state trooper (with limo tint on his cruiser) will tell you to get sunglasses.now if you have a note from a dermatologist saying you have a sun allergy.....maybe.

I've had illegally tinted windows for 15 years. I've never gotten a ticket for them. Unless it's obnoxious (5% all around) or you drive obnoxious, cops usually won't frick with you.

Ive gotten two in my lifetime. Both were from LSP and each were over $200. Each time I was pulled over on the Interstate when the trooper passed me and then proceeded to pull me over for a tint ticket only.
Got out of both tickets by removing the tint before my court date and providing receipts for having it removed along with pictures and dates of tint less windows. It also helps that a buddy of mine is a lawyer and knew the cops both times.
Our state troop ( close family member) advised us to get the exemption but we have yet to do it. In the off chance that we do get a ticket, I wonder if the medical documentation and the dr's note (and relative talking to the trooper who wrote the ticket and explaining the issue) would get it dropped. Still, that is a bunch of BS to go thru over a ticket.
No worries about local cops, we know them all by name and are related to a few.
We dont mind applying and paying for the exemption but i would be pissed if I put out $100 bucks on the fingerprinting, rap sheet, etc and it was denied. Hmm, I wonder if our cop relative can get us our rap sheet for free(nothing is on it anyway, never been arrested).

The stock tint on my new BMW is pretty much black. It matches the car. I've never had tint this dark. Looks great, but I'm 99% sure it's too dark to be legal.

The law changed about 2-4 years ago. I used to have an exemption for security reasons (I was a licensed private investigator). I tried to get an exemption about 2 years ago (after I stopped working as a PI) and ended up getting an inspection sticker in Terrebonne Parish at some random place (I live in BR). Tried a couple of places in town and had no idea it changed.

Has anyone been successful with a medical application lately? Sounds like they only have one rubber stamp for this issue.......

When he made statement 2 the lawyer and I just looked at each other and I said: "So you are openly stating that you are refusing to approve legitimate requests? In other words, you aren't doing your Legally mandated job?" It was quiet for a while and then they ended the meeting. I was later notified my appeal was denied.

Just tint them as dark as you want and don't drive like an a-hole and you will be fine.

I HATE the tint law in this state. 40% is basically see through. Texas is 25% for comparison. My car was Texas legal at 27%, got refused inspection for it. Never ticketed though.

Wasn't my attorney, it was the house counsel for LSP. HIS attorney was the one who gave me the "WTF did he just say?" look before calling an end to the meeting. I wasn't going to pay a lawyer to go down there with me and argue with some random state trooper.

Are you sure about this law? How can the manufactures sell something that is not legal in the state at which you reside?
My truck was shipped from a dealership in Texas to LA. There's a sticker that states that it meets TX tint laws. I'm not sure is TX & LA have the same tint laws or not.

Can you have any tint on the front windows? I would like it to match the factory backs.

the police do not pull over and cite enough people to worry about it.
