re: Low Fat Diet Is Allegedly Wrong According to Report

So you think that a low calorie, high carb diet will lead to obesity? How does one gain weight at a calorie deficit?

Dude, can you read??
Read my inital post in the thread (I emphasize metabolic flexibility with carbs being an important role). Calories tell the thermodynamic accounting tale (see my analogy on wealth and spending in the thread)
My last post discussed the the limitation of the twinkie diet philosophy (at the expense of micronutrients and long term health). I did concede that this could be a short term win (weight maintenance), but the journal I posted outlines the potential long term consequences

Can you? Was I responding to your post?

So the post I responded to was wrong...k
I never said there wouldn't be long term issues. This statement:
quote:
That's why low fat, high sugar foods lead to obesity regardless of caloric content
is absolutely retarded.
How does one put on weight in the absence of energy?
Go on professor....
It's cool that low carb works for you, but your obsession with it is pathetic

Uh, yeah??
Look, I do not argue that calories account for the process. The issue I have is in causality...
Do you understand the distinction?

To reiterate, I am not for a moment suggesting that energy balance or thermodynamics are being violated. I’m saying they do not tell you WHY our bodies choose to accumulate fat instead of burn it. Think about the examples I give in the video interview in response to the question, why we get fat? The growing child is consuming more energy than he is expending (which allows him to grow), but this is not the CAUSE of his growth, it’s the RESULT of his growth. The pregnant woman isn’t gaining fat during the pregnancy BECAUSE she is eating more energy than she’s expending. She’s creating a positive energy balance BECAUSE her hormones are driving her to create this energy balance so she can support the fetus.

Can you please point out where I argued against your statement?
I responded to this quote from Antonio Moss:

So I'll ask again, professor:
How does one put on weight in the absence of energy?

Its not professor...
Once again if you read my initial post in this thread the recommendations call for plenty of carbs in people who have earned them
Low carb is recommended for others as a short term bridge (until more insulin sensitive)
Posted on 5/23/16 at 5:22 pm to ThinePreparedAni
Still waiting for you to answer the simple question I've asked over and over again....
How does one put on weight in the absence of energy?
Thanks Antonio. Never said I had an issue with that

Calories account for the process not the cause
Hormonal impact of sugar via insulin has a disproportionate impact on glucose partitioning into fat
Look, you can believe what you want to believe. I challenge you to go on a long term calories restricted diet of strictly simples sugar and starches (which is what most of the American populace attempts to do when dieting over the last few decades). Report back on your "progress"
I would be happy to take care of you for your metabolic derangements that evolve..

So you can't answer the question
Because you know that you were wrong.
That statement is scientifically, mathematically, and logically dumb.

If you're at a calorie deficit, you won't gain weight.
How many times does the Twinkie diet need to be brought up?
Again, when you remove all context, the idea of a calorie deficit works. But what happens when you eat 2000 calories of Twinkies for a month?
You fricking die of malnutrition.
So, yes, you make not gain actual pounds but your body will shut down.
Eating high sugar diets (especially without associated fiber) makes you fat because 1) it's high in calories and 2) it really gives you very little in the way of nutrition which means that you have to consume even more calories from other sources. The body isn't going to let you starve it.

It's been done for longer than a month
If you're at a calorie deficit, you won't be putting on weight
So it isn't regardless of calories. Not debatable

The premise of the question as you pose it makes it unanswerable
You have at all figured out. You are guilty of the same bias that you accuse me of.
You believe what you want. I will be happy to profit from you in the future...

Seriously.
The guy that did the junk food/Twinkie diet for ten weeks was also shoveling multivitamins down his throat, eating cans of vegetables every day, and drinking a protein shake every morning.

Interesting, because I'm looking at several journals that were able to come to pretty clear conclusions

You seem to think I'm arguing in favor for a high sugar diet for some reason....

So it isn't regardless of calories then?
Thanks!

At best we are primates with intelligence enough to be herbivores.
I've never seen another carnivore grill. African lions do not have Big Green Eggs.
Teeth are wrong and jaws are wrong to kill and consume an animal on the spot. Not to mention we cannot process the amount of protein. It just goes to waste.

Fat means nothing because whatever doesn't get burned will get stored or excreted anyway. Removing simple carbs from your diet and eating lean can help you lose a lot of weight really fast and feel a lot better about yourself.

You think the evil grocery shelf stockers do this on purpose to trip up us.
