Yep. They collected the Permanent Fund payments for being residents when they aren't. At around 2k a pop last year, they did pretty well. They're Texans.
They did house arrest. I see them around Juneau all the time, they aren't really living in the Bush. Even when filming they stay in a lodge in Hoonah, AK.

I think it's pretty obvious though that anyone portrayed as living in the Bush cannot possibly be that inept and survive. I know some characters that resemble those people but they actually know what they are doing. Life Below Zero is a bit more realistic IMO.
The producer is a nice looking lady though.

dazed and her archenemy picc did a weight reversal...picc used to be huge and fought the good fight until she lost enough weight to enter the miss la pageant....dazed used to be slim and athletic, but all of a sudden became addicted to cheeseburgers.
