I knew they were having budget problems (like most every hospital), but they have been steadily hiring on new doctors.

"Despite strong quality rankings and recent volume growth, Louisiana Heart Hospital has faced significant financial challenges in recent years. Like many hospitals around the nation, we struggle to balance shrinking reimbursements with rising operation costs," said Scott Boudreaux, chief executive officer for the hospital.

Were are they located at? Never hear of it. Ochsner in New Orleans is growing big time.

I think they're in Lacombe. If so, I worked there when it was being built. Just couldn't MAGA fast enough over there.

It is in Lacombe. Really nice hospital. It is a shame to lose it.
I think many hospitals over expanded thinking ACA was going to be a medical boom.

St. Bernard hospital will be closing soon, too.
Looks like the Big O will be taking over. I assume Ochsner will make a run at LHH if they haven't done so already.

opened in 2003, acquired by Cardiovascular Care Group in 2011. had a great reputation -- good article and comments from nola article LINK.
this part of interest: The public gained a peek at the hospital's financial situation in 2013 when it engaged in a legal skirmish with the St. Tammany assessor's office over property taxes. The assessor's office set a fair market value of almost $26 million on the hospital's buildings and property. That was was more than double the $10.8 million value sought by the hospital, located on Louisiana 434.The hospital appealed to the state Tax Commission, which investigated the matter and set the fair market value at $23.4 million. The hospital appealed that decision to the 19th Judicial District, which in March 2015 affirmed the Tax Commission's valuation.

Only huge hospitals corporations like Ochsner are viable in this new environment.
Thanks Obama

Ochsner is taking over everything. It really sucks for both the patients and the health care providers.
It's really a shame West Jeff and EJ couldn't come together under a single umbrella to stem the tide.

It's pretty new. Guess it's not a huge deal what company owns it, as long as it stays open.

When I was in the hospital for open heart surgery they submitted to my insurance a total of a little over $1,000,000. That's for two heart surgeries, doctors (charged $200 every time they walked in my room), meds, lab work, everything. I was in the hospital from November 7 through December 8. The charge to just stay in the hospital, not counting everything else like my two surgeries was over $700,000.00. That means the hospital charged a little over $22,500.00 a day just to have a hospital room.
Not sure the exact total they "settled" on but I'm thinking it was around $200,000.

So insurance paid 20% of their fee. I'd like to see any other business that could survive on those margins.
