They're more fixated on hot button wedge issues like abortion, LGBT rights, religion, gun control, etc. which mean a lot emotionally to the people involved but really aren't that big of a deal in relation to how the state works
Dead on. Legislature passes a bill protecting gun rights, which are already protected by the 2A, passes anti-abortion bill that is unconstitutional, and will spend millions defending it to the Supreme Court where it gets struck down; meanwhile, higher education gets cut by over $700 million. Hard to attract business if your population of potential employees isn't educated, and the children of the business owner will have to attend shitty schools. But hey, we've got the best gun rights laws in the nation! Hooah!

Stop being in denial.
Between the police shootings, protesting and floods, you don't think that would play a factor in a business deciding not to want to do business in a certain area?
Maybe they are thinking... "You know, thinks seems to be a little unstable in baton rouge at the moment. Let's not open up there just yet. We don't want to open up for business and three weeks later a protest breaks out and for whatever reason, looting starts taking place and then someone decides to break into our place". The chances of it happening might not be that high, but if I am opening up a business somewhere, like any decent business person, I would have to look at the risk & rewards of opening up in certain locations.
thats not the reason Nurse said Bucees pulled the plug on Baton Rouge...she's sure they pulled the plug on Baton Rouge was because of the flood, even though that area didnt flood and she has no idea if it has ever flooded...ever

Omg if you can't understand when a person is stating THEIR opinion.
I'm sure I'm not the only person that thought the flood had a part in their decision to bail.
Let me rephrase that for you....it is OF MY OPINION that I am not alone in wondering if the flood was a part of their reason to bail out. Better?

No, it's not better.
Give five examples of why that's your opinion and an exact date and time whenever you came to this revelation.

a company representative said Tuesday the decision was made because the company could not secure additional locations in the state.
"To date, we have only been able to secure one site,” said Jeff Nadalo, the company’s general counsel, in an email to WBRZ. “As a result, we have decided not to move forward in Baton Rouge.”

Good news is, Louisiana has just been ranked NUMBER 1!, in petty, out-of-context, internet arguments.
Take a bow, children.

I don't understand why people get worked up when nurse points out the benefits of living in Arizona vs living in La. She grew up in La and now lives in Arizona. Correct me if I am wrong nurse, but if living in Arizona was worse than living in Louisiana, you would have probably moved right? Again, correct me if I am wrong, but I am sure you take some pride in being from La. Most people take some type of pride in being from where ever it is they are from, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't point out the positives of their current situation and compare it to where they are from. Louisiana is unique. We offer certain elements that you can't get anywhere else in the world, but maybe it is better to listen to people who have moved out and what keeps them from coming back so that we can improve to the point we can keep people in state and demand a better quality of life.
I was born and raised in Louisiana right around henderson/krotz springs . i know right. I have been back and forth to Louisiana many times. i joined the military soon after high school and came back and graduated from college at ULL thats Southwest Louisiana to most of you on here . I had every intention of staying Louisiana after graduation but Louisiana offered nothing but low paying tech jobs. I graduated with an information systems degree. I worked in baton rouge for a year driving over that god foreshaken bridge from breaux bridge to baton rouge daily. The job sucked but i was making alright money.
I decided it was time to leave the state again. Best choice i ever made. Found a job in the first month and have been increasing my pay checks almost yearly with a few job moves since graduating college in the early 2000's. I miss my family and friends who are still in Louisiana but having lived in at least 5 or 6 different states(military etc..) since leaving Louisiana it just seems Louisiana is going no where. I hate to sound so negative on a state i still love in my heart. I will admit louisiana is one of a kind but while saying that what makes it one of a kind is the backwoods politics/good ole boy network style of life many are accustomed to. Recently returned to louisiana on a trip and it seems like the same issues still exist from when i was a kid: bad roads/bad infrastructure / bad schools/ low wages/ still oil/energy dependent. My point is once you leave its hard to return when other states offer so much more: Better roads/ better education for your kids/ higher paying jobs/ just opportunity in general. If jax needs a new overpass they build one doesnt take 20/30 years. Hell i where my ragin cajun gear around jax all the time and have meet a few from louisiana. its just sad that Louisiana seems to like being at the bottom in everything.

quote:I tend to agree with you there, but the Supremes fabricated this "penumbra" out of whole cloth, and thus there are now constitutional protections.
